Slow Cooker Belgian Beef Stew
Friday, 10 November 2017 by Julie Lieber
There is nothing like coming home from a long day of work, to the smells of beef, beer and onions simmering in the kitchen. The first time we made this crock pot beef stew, we could not believe how flavorful it was. The Chimay beer is a must for this recipe, so don’t skimp on the beer. Enjoy this stew served over buttered egg noodles and your favorite green veggie. (Adapted from Jewish Slow Cooker)

Easy Rolled Manicotti
Saturday, 04 November 2017 by guycohen
This is the only way to make manicotti, as far as I’m concerned. Thanks to this hack from Cooks Illustrated, instead of stuffing cheese filling into already cooked noodles, this manicotti uses softened no-bake lasagna sheets, into which you roll the filling. Once you make this Manicotti, with its creamy ricotta basil filling, and topped with marinara and gooey mozzarella, you too will be sold on this method. Serve this with steamed broccoli and your meal is complete!

Homestyle Meatloaf
Saturday, 14 October 2017 by Julie Lieber
When I was growing up, I never liked meatloaf. Then I married a guy who loves meatloaf – and as luck would have it, my mother in law pointed me to a recipe that became the starting point for my reimagined meatloaf. Now, I’m now a meatloaf lover too. This one has loads of veggies, all ground up to look like meat. They mix into the meat seamlessly and add amazing flavor – and of course veggie goodness. Topped with a sweet glaze, even your kids will love this one… To round it out, you can go traditional and serve it with mashed potatoes and a green salad – or you can try my salt and vinegar smashed potatoes. Note: This recipe makes two meatloaves – if you don’t finish them both, you can make mealoaf sandwiches for lunch or put one in the freezer! To freeze, just wrap the meatloaf tightly in parchment and then foil, once it has cooled completely.

Stuffed Peppers
Friday, 29 September 2017 by Julie Lieber
I love a good one pot meal and this is a family favorite. My family seems to enjoy it when they each get their own stuffed pepper filled with spiced rice, meat and sauce. A bonus here is that the entire meal is cooked in a large dutch oven – and who can resist a one-pot meal? (Adapted from Jewish Soul Food)

Sabich Sandwiches
Wednesday, 13 September 2017 by Julie Lieber
This is a great vegetarian meal that includes fresh summer veggies, protein and is packed with flavor. I set up all of the toppings and let people choose what they want to put in in their pita pocket – just as they do at a falafel stand – but don’t skip the tehina! It brings it all together. Try swapping out the traditional Middle Eastern falafel sandwich with this this Sabich sandwich for a great weeknight dinner.

Lemon Zest and Garlic Potato Salad
Friday, 01 September 2017 by Julie Lieber
This is a potato salad like you’ve never had before. As opposed to creamy and soggy potato salads from days or yore, this updated potato salad features crisp roasted potatoes and is bursting with fresh vibrant flavors.
Salmon Burgers
Friday, 07 July 2017 by Julie Lieber
In my house growing up, salmon burgers (or croquettes as we called them in the 80’s) were made from cans of salmon mixed with some eggs, breadcrumbs and maybe a little something green or crunchy if we were lucky. Easy, but it was never my favorite dinner. When I came across this method for making salmon burgers in an issue of Cooking Light, I knew it would be a hit. Instead of canned salmon, this recipe uses fresh salmon that is par-baked and them mixed with fresh and punchy flavors that are a far cry from the dull croquets of my youth. Serve with Sweet and Tangy Cruciferous Slaw on the side.
